Nestriq ("Nestriq", "we", "our", or "us") operates a software platform (the "Platform") that helps tenants, landlords, and their agents connect around rental housing. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy applies to your use of the Platform and our website. It does not cover third-party websites or services that we link to.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide to us and information generated through your use of the Platform.

• Account information: email address, password (stored in hashed form), and the role you choose (for example, tenant, landlord, or agent).
• Profile information: details you add to your profile, such as name, contact information, and preferences. On tenant profiles, this can include self-declared information like budget, move-in timing, and household details. During our private beta, profile information is self-declared and is not independently verified by Nestriq.
• Listing information: property details, location, photos, availability, and any other information landlords or agents add to their listings.
• Communications: messages and other content you send through the Platform, and messages you send to our support team.
• Usage and device data: basic information about how you use the Platform, such as pages visited, actions taken, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, and device type. This is used for security, analytics, and product improvement.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and maintain your account and authenticate sign-ins.
• Provide core Platform functionality, including profiles, listings, search, and messaging between users.
• Display profile and listing information to other users where the product is designed to do so (for example, showing a listing to tenants searching in that area).
• Respond to support requests and other inquiries.
• Maintain the security of the Platform, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Understand how the Platform is used and improve our features, performance, and reliability.
• Comply with our legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only in the following ways:

• With other users, where the Platform requires it. For example, listings you publish are visible to other users, and messages you send are shared with the recipients you choose. Profile information is shown to other users in the contexts the Platform is designed to support.
• With service providers. We rely on trusted vendors for hosting, infrastructure, authentication, email delivery, error monitoring, and analytics. These providers may process information on our behalf and only for the purposes we direct.
• For legal reasons. We may share information when we believe in good faith that it is required by law, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Nestriq, our users, or others.
• In connection with a business transaction. If Nestriq is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide the Platform and the purposes described in this policy, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When you close your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted to retain it (for example, records related to security incidents or legal compliance).

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed storage of passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can review and update most of your account and profile information directly in the Platform. Subject to applicable law, you may also have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your personal information.
• Withdraw consent where we rely on consent to process your information.

9. Children and Minors

The Platform is intended for adults. You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will provide additional notice through the Platform or by email.
